Purkuhommissa, miettien / Things I've thought about while unpacking

Muuttokuormamme on saapunut. Sen kunniaksi listaan tähän mennessä viisi parasta asiaa kaupunkiin palaamisessa:

5. Ei lumitöitä, ei auton ikkunoiden skraappaamista, ei mutaisesta etupihasta murehtimista.

1. Ihmiset. Niitä on paljon. Erinäköisiä, -kokoisia, -ikäisiä, -värisiä, ihan kaikenlaisia. Joukkoon sulautuu kuin huomaamatta. Täällä minä olen eikä oikeastaan kukaan huomaa. Sisko on täällä. Veli perheineen on täällä. Ystävä, jonka kanssa mennä omenavarkaisiin. Monta hyvää tyyppiä ja minä.

Our stuff has arrived! Here are the five best things about moving back to the city, so far:

5. No need to shovel snow, scrape the car windows or worry about the muddy front yard.

4. Museums! In order to visit one, I don't have to reserve an entire day for it. As a somewhat conflicted fan of Orientalist art, I'm looking forward to seeing Japanomania - a new exhibition at Ateneum.

3. The shops are open late (although international readers may disagree). The hardware stores close at six pm on Saturdays - and not at 1 pm like in the countryside (yes, 1 pm) . The flea markets are open on Sundays, as they should be - yay!

2. The availability of organic milk, harissa and lamb sausages at the grocery store across the street.

1. People. There are so many. Different looking ones, different sizes, ages, races, just all types of people. One fits in without even noticing. My sister is here. My brother and his family are here, and a friend who will go steal apples with me in the fall. Many good people, and myself.

  1. Wonderful! Much of your list is why I also am a dedicated city dweller!
